Sermon: The Glory of Unspectacular Obedience (Luke 3)

The last three years of Jesus' ministry, full of incredible teaching and miracles, were spectacular and memorable, and hence we find lots of details about those years recorded in the Bible.  

But there's hardly anything written down about the first 30 years of his life.  However, at the baptism of Jesus, we learn about the glory of unspectacular obedience, and in this sermon we consider how that can encourage us now to be holy.

Just Another Melodic Monday - Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

When we face the storms of life, it is good to know that Jesus Christ remains faithful as our Saviour and Lord; he is, as this song puts it, "the sure and steady anchor".  Whatever difficulties and weaknesses we experience, we can be assured of Christ's steadfastness.

The hymn "Great is thy faithfulness" was written by Thomas Chisholm, and here is performed by Jimmy Needham.  The hymn recognises that, even though the world around us changes, we always have "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow" because of the unchanging faithfulness of our God.
