Worship with Friends on Thursday mornings

Would you like to learn more about the Christian faith?

Consider coming along to Worship With Friends, a meeting held every Thursday morning at 10:30am.

A simple half-hour worship service is followed by refreshments and an opportunity to chat, to be encouraged and to ask questions in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The meeting is held in the United Church building on New Street (in between the Cock Pit and New Street Baptist Chapel).  Everyone is welcome.

Spiritual Growth, Episode 4: Love

In this Bible study, we first recognise God's plan for Christians to grow up spiritually, even when experiencing suffering. Then, we look at 1 John 4:7-11 and 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 and consider how important Christian love is in the life of a believer: "...and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love..."

This is the first in a four-part series, looking at the life, death, resurrection and ascension to Heaven of Jesus Christ.  We'll be considering why they are all so important to the Christian faith.

This first part is based on 2 Corinthians 5:21: "For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."  We learn that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life so that he could die carrying the sins of other people, and cover those people with his own sinless life.

A Midweek Message: A Fatal Mystery (Daniel pt. 3)

How can someone remain calm in a crisis?  

In Daniel chapter 2, a mystery becomes an emergency when human power and knowledge are ineffective.  However, while others are panicking, Daniel exhibits prudence (being calm and wise), prayer (trusting God to help) and praise (in response to God's mercies).  

In this message, we consider how we can respond in the same way if we have the same faith as Daniel.

A Midweek Message: Dinner or Death! (Daniel pt.2)

We're continuing our series called "Choose God's Adventure" in the Book of Daniel.

Can God be in control, even when life is difficult?  The answer from the first chapter of Daniel is "Yes!"  In this message, we see the sovereignty of God in the life of His people, especially Daniel and his 3 friends.
